About our Speaker

Amy Talley worked for many years as an English and history teacher before staying at home to do that all important job of being a stay-at-home mommy.  She has been a member of NOLA and RWA for two years, completing two historicals and one contemporary.  She is active in a critique group, has a couple of contest finals under her belt, and serves as Vice-President of NOLA STARS.  Currently, she is tapping away on her keyboard and waiting somewhat patiently to be discovered as a witty, engaging romance author.

Presentation
Adding Punch to Your Writing

Being an English teacher has given Amy plenty of time to study outstanding writing along with writing that made her go, "hmmmm?"  So she got to thinking - what separates the great from the "just okay?"  This month she will review samples of writing with the "wow" factor.  Then allow members to take a hard look at their own writing to see if they are doing all they can with their word choice, comparisons and tags.

So, bring a few pages from your WIP and, perhaps, a magnifying glass.  Let's find the "okay" and make it "extraordinary"!
