Biography
- Pseudonyms(s):Clark Stone
Dennis H. Clarkston earned two degrees at Northwestern State University: BS in Electronic Engineering Technology in 1982 and BA in Journalism in 1997. At present time, he is in the ‘pre-published’ category in fiction. He has several newspaper and newsletter articles published as well as several columns.
The writing bug bit Dennis at the age of 6 when he read his first-grade storybooks. The paper seemed to beckon his to write his stories. Due to frustration, he stopped trying to write until he turned 24.
The spark of writing re-ignited in Dennis in 1983. While teaching himself how to use his mother’s old Underwood typewriter, he began writing his first ‘big epic, world renowned, number-one bestseller.’ It is still hidden in his room somewhere.
In 1991, he met Suzannah Davis when she brought her printer in to his workplace for repair. She introduced him to two writers’ organizations in Shreveport: The Shreveport Writer’s Group and NOLA (North Louisiana Romance Writers).
Presently, he remains a member of NOLA STARs (formerly NOLA) and RWA. Dennis acknowledges that NOLA STARs has helped him grow as a writer.
In April 2004, he took the reins of NOLA STARs’ official newsletter, Nola News. In April 2006, he had been tapped to serve as NOLA STARs’ president. He has not been able to escape since. (Big Grin). As president, he enjoys working with the other Board of Director members as well as general members.
Dennis has several projects constantly in the works. One project involves an alien named Narval who writes his observations in his blog called Narval’s Folly (blog.varnarkgonewild.com). It is not a daily blog, but I attempt to write in it four times a week. In this venture, I use my pseudonym of Clark Stone.
