My husband and I left our jobs and families in Indiana in 2005 to come to Shreveport and do missionary work in the Allendale area. We love our work and the people in our neighborhood. But that's another story-or book.
Like most writers, I've read and written forever. My last job was as a Development Director for a not-for-profit organization where I wrote grant proposals, newspaper articles, and anything else that would get the word out.
When we moved here I thought I would like to take a class to hone my skills, and maybe write those family stories that often get lost when a generation dies. But, the only writing class I could locate was Sally Hamer's Beginning Fiction at LSUS. I'd never written fiction but I thought I would surely learn something. With Sally's encouragement I discovered I had always been a story-teller and fell in love with embellishing the tales while writing them down.
When I joined NOLA STARS my real education began. At this point, I have two WIP: one historical Christian woman's fiction and the other more of a Chick-Lit. Simultaniously I am learning the craft of writing through all the available sources in NOLA and my critique group. The plan is to finish my mss. and then start the learning curve to get my babies published.
